You have probably once bought a blouse, a shirt or a dress you believed needed a little more shaping and form that could hug your curves in a better way, and you were not sure how to adjust a shirt (the professional way).

I’ll show you a simple tip that you can apply to all your top pieces to shape that garment to your body a little more and be more flattering than the typical “sack of potatoes” style cut. The solution is very simple: Set a shirt with notches. I’ll show you how to make them, how to sew them and how to iron them.

Let’s start at the front (the shirt it’s inside out in this photography on the mannequin) The notches in the front waist should always be placed under the breast. To be more specific, starting below the nipple about 5-8 cm below (depending on the size of your bust). Entering the waist about 5cm – 7cm max and then end up in 0cm. (you will see a picture below of the shape of the notch)

For the back, you should start the notch below the shoulder blades. About 10 cm minim. from center of the back (horizontally). Tackling below the waist and back to finish 0 cm margin.

In this photograph you can see that the precise shape of a waist notch, is a rhombus. (must be exactly like the right side in the same place) To trace the notch, just fold the fabric in two and then pass a pin through the points of the rhombus to mirror the same shape and the same distance.

To sew the notches you just have to fold the rhombus in half. Sew from the top with 0cm margin, reentering the waist and back out at the end 0cm margin. The notches, both front and back need to be ironed to the center of your body.

Example: The two notches at the back, have to be iron into the center of your back (as in the photo here) and the front notches have to be ironed towards the center of your front (where the buttons are)

Esto si que es un buen consejo!
Yo sufro para encontrar camisas que me queden bien, por que aunque soy pequeña en el pecho siempre me hace falta 1 cm o 2, y si compro una talla más, voy modo saco de patatas!
